The Friends of Music Society, utilising archival material from the “Lilian Voudouri” Music Library and in collaboration with the “Athena” research centre ( Research and Innovation Information Technologies Centre), through the Institute for Language and Speech Processing are developing the new innovative programme ARIA.
The programme refers to the research, development and adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to create an innovative interactive visitor experience.
For the purposes of the project, a pilot development and evaluation of a participatory experience, will be carried out in the Music Library, which will evolve on several levels. Focusing on the research question of whether the reception of a musical work by the final recipient depends on the knowledge of the context in which it was created, our approach will combine:
- Audience interactions with the musical work in an immersive virtual reality experience
- An experiential collaborative experience for visitors to get to know the institution’s archival material through the use of mobile devices.
