The famous lied singer Alexandra Trianti – Kyriakidis (1901 – 1977), a founding member of the Society and President of the Board of Directors from 1968 until her death, bequeathed her assets to the Friends of Music Society, which since 1993 has held and managed her legacy.
According to her wish, the proceeds from her estate sponsor the operation of the Friends of Music Society’s Music Library “Lilian Voudouri” and award musical scholarships to young talented Greek artists.
Since 1994, the Board of Directors of the Society has regularly launched competitions for the awarding of scholarships in specific specialities: orchestral instruments (strings, wind instruments, percussion), piano, classical guitar, lyrical song, orchestra conducting, korrepetition, musicology, etc.
From 1994 to 2021, 85 young musicians have been honoured with the Trianti Scholarship, enabling them to study one to three academic years in major music academies abroad.
The Trianti Scholarships are awarded by decision of the Board of Directors after hearing the candidates and after a relevant recommendation of the jury.
